About Me
My professional art career began 35 years ago
My professional art career began 35 years ago after graduating from East Carolina University with a Magna Cum Laude BFA degree in painting.
It's been my joy to experience many types of art jobs from portraiture at Busch Gardens to book illustrations for Time-Life and National
Geographic publications to many private commissions, etc. For 35 years I've been happily married to Dr. Scott M. Huse and we have two grown
children. Currently my husband and I reside in Port Charlotte, Florida.

If I had to choose one painting to be my favorite in my entire art career, it would be this one, If Thine Enemy Thirst. The scene depicted here could be
considered as an epilogue to the Underground Railroad story. It is intentionally displayed as a morality play. A man faces his mortal enemy, but chooses
to show mercy at the risk of his own life. As the Bible instructs us, " If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink...do
not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." (Romans 12:20-21)

My Studio
My art studio is located in my home My art studio, located in my home, is well lit with large windows, skylights,
high ceilings and sliding glass doors, all enhancing a great environment for creativity. Sometimes I even get to see bobcats walk
across our lawn outside.
The easil is the large wooden platform kind which easily accomodates the 3'x4' canvases I prefer. The
studio is kept pretty well stocked with a large variety of brushes and oil and acrylic paints. Occassionally I also dabble in
claywork and scratch art, so those supplies are on hand as well. Within a couple steps of my easil are my guitars and keyboard,
essential elements in my insprition.

What I Do
I enjoy a variety of painting styles from modern to impressionistic to tight realism
Professionally, I enjoy a variety of painting styles from modern to impressionistic to tight realism. I typically do
whatever work comes my way or seems like a good idea at the moment. Sometimes it is a directly commissioned work like
a portrait or illustration.
Other times it is just an idea that I feel strongly to express on canvas. For example, my
Underground Railroad series, probably my best known work, began simply as an idea with no thought as to whether it could
ever be successfully marketed. It was a nice surprise last year when a book was published about that series in the Netherlands.
In terms of personal fulfillment, my favorite works are the ones based on expressions of my Christian faith.

My Interests
Outside of family, my main interests are Bible basedMy major areas of interest, outside of family, are
Bible based and are usually manifested through my painting, music, and research projects. For several years I was a full-time
song writer/musician, writing and recording Christian music and plays. The other main competition for my time is researching
subjects related to the Biblical end times. It's a blessing to have enough diverse interests to enrich my life with such variety.
